Clinical decision support systems for Diabetic Retinopathy risk assessment

The aim of this project is to develop a computerized system to aid clinical diagnosis for the screening of diabetic retinopathy. The system will use clinical history computerized data from primary care devices. The main objective is to provide family doctors with a tool to detect personalized risk of developing diabetic retinopathy. Its impact on the diabetic population of Camp de Tarragona Health Region, with a total of 44,118 diabetic patients registered in its 33 Health Centers, will be considered.

Decision Deck

The Decision Deck project is an initiative of a European consortium aimed at collaboratively developing Open Source software tools implementing Multiple Criteria Decision Aid (MCDA). Multicriteria decision aid proposes methodologies that are acknowledged and used in real world decision processes. These methodologies provide useful solutions to complex decision problems that arise in organizations.

The software components of Decision Deck implement the common functionalities of a large range of multiple criteria decision aid methods.

We participate in this project since January 2011. In particular, we want to make available the aggregation operators for linguistic data. At the moment, we have developed two components for the Decision Deck platform:

  1. The OWA operator as defined by Yager:
    • R.R. Yager, On Ordered Weighted Averaging Aggregation, IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man and Cybernetics, 18, pp. 119-145 (1988)
  2. The ULOWA operator that we defined at:
    • Isern, L. Marin, A. Valls, A. Moreno, The Unbalanced Linguistic Ordered Weighted Averaging Operator, In: Proc. IEEE International Conference on Fuzzy Systems, FUZZ-IEEE 2010, IEEE Computer Society, Barcelona, Catalonia, 2010, pp. 3063-3070.

All the details about the use of the software tools developed in this project are available at the following web page: http://www.decision-deck.org/

      Recommender systems in Tourism

The ITAKA group has been collaborating with the Scientific and Technological Park of Tourism and Leisure (EURECAT) since 2009 in the design and implementation of intelligent recommender systems of touristic activities in the region of Tarragona. This work is framed in the project SigTur (recommendation of tourist activities based on the user profile) and EnoSigTur (recommender specialised in enotourism).
