From Agreement Technologies to Music: A Selection of AI Applications at the IIIA
Prof. Ramon López de Mántaras
Institut d'Investigació en Intel·ligčncia Artificial, CSIC, Bellaterra
In this talk I will describe in some detail several recent successful AI applications developed at the IIIA (Artificial Intelligence Research Institute). These applications are a selection among over 100 AI applications have been developed during the last 10+ years at the IIIA covering many sectors (health, transport, energy, industrial design, music, e-commerce, tourism, social networks, conflict resolution, etc).
These applications have been based on many AI methodologies and techniques such as case-based reasoning, machine learning, computational methods of trust and reputation, automated negotiation, multiagent systems, recommenders, agreement technologies, etc, that are some of the main research lines at the IIIA.
Enabling Interactive Context Aware Environments with 4G/5G Networks
Dr. Francisco Falcone
Universidad de Navarra
One of the main advances in the field of Information and Communication Technology is the implementation of Context Aware Scenarios, in which seamless and full interaction with users is possible. Such scenarios become possible through the interconnection of multiple systems (e.g., environmental sensors, location based systems, biomedical monitoring systems, social networks, etc.), which give rise to paradigms such as Smart Cities, Smart Regions and eventually Global Context Aware Scenarios. Within this framework, wireless systems play a key role as enablers of high mobility/high flexibility access mechanisms to end users, which exhibit a wide range of cases (domestic users, public administrations, automated Machine to Machine communications, etc.).
In this presentation, we will explore the capabilities and challenges that 4G and 5G wireless systems offer and exhibit in the goal of context aware scenario implementation. A description of physical layer phenomena, as well as system level functionality will be presented, in order to gain insight in the deployment trend of this type of networks within the coming years.
